UFC Fight Night: KCFC Has Heavyweight to Featherweight Tilts on Saturday!

This Saturday’s UFC Fight Night features two Kill Cliff FC fighters battling it out at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. You can watch it at ESPN and ESPN+.

Chase Sherman vs. Josh Parisian

The handwritten schedule board at Kill Cliff FC in Deerfield Beach, Fla., simply says “Chase.” His opponent is listed as “Fat Guy.” Talk about giving the opponent some locker room inspiration!

That Fat Guy is Josh Parisian, a 6’3, 265 pound 33-year-old who is sporting a respectable pro record of 15-5-0. The former member Dana White’s Contender Series (Class of 2020), coming off a win-loss-win rollercoaster from last year, faces KCFC’s Chase Sherman in the heavyweight bout in the PPV portion of the promotion.

These are large men. Sherman, 6'4, 253 pounds and also known as “the Vanilla Gorilla,” is 16-10-0 but has yet to firm up his consistency. His third-round TKO victory over Jared Vanderaa in July stopped a four-fight skid—two submissions and two decisions—that he hopes to build on. No one wants to lose this one, but someone must.

Darrick Minner vs. Nuerdanbieke Shayilan

At age 28, KCFC featherweight Nuerdanbieke Shayilan has a ton of fights under his belt: He’s 38-10! He’s facing off against someone with just as much experience as he does in Darrick Minner, who se 26-13 record makes more sense because he’s 32.

In any case, UFC had this to say about Shayilan’s copious record:

  • “The 28-year-old has nearly 50 fights on his resume, but it’s hard to know how much value to derive from those contests given that he made 30-plus starts in his first two years as a competitor, which is why his shift to training at Kill Cliff FC could prove pivotal.”

In other words, the fight world is watching for him to slow things down, work on his skills, have good camps, and get on the ladder to the PPV portion of the night.

Prediction? Here’s UFC:

  • “This should be a grappling-heavy affair with plenty of submission attempts and competitive scrambles. If you’re a fan of battles waged on the canvas, this is one you won’t want to miss.”
